Reviews
Operates perfectly, as designed.
I've read most all of the other reviews, and experienced some of the same issues shortly after it was installed by a contractor. I was getting more and more frustrated with it (wouldn't come on, wouldn't shut off, came on by it's self, etc,) and was ready to call delta customer assistance. Instead, I downloaded the installation/owner manual and read the electronic section carefully. After making two changes, described in the manual, it worked perfectly. I moved the battery pack at least 2" from the sides of the cabinet sides and moved the wires further apart from each other. I believe most of the issues that others have had are all related to the installation of the faucet rather than the faucet or electronics.

Nice touch
This faucet has some nice features that make it very desirable.
It's nice not to have to do anything more than to touch it to turn it on when you have dirty or sticky hands as well as turn it off during a cooking project. The turning radius is also a nice feature. There are a few cons however that could be improved. It must be installed EXACTLY AND PRECISELY to make it work properly and at times it will turn off unexpectedly.
Overall it is a good product that is desirable, stylish as well as funtional.

Great faucet & great support!
We did a whole house remodel in 2009 and one of my "presents" to myself was this faucet #saw the first commercial for it as we were discussing the kitchen and immediately wanted it#. It has been a godsend when needing to turn on the water with either extremely filthy hands or hands that were full. We've had a couple of issues with the solenoid#s# going bad #we just ordered our 2nd in 3 years# but Delta has been extremely helpful everytime I've called - from detailed instructions to quick service. We have changed the batteries twice #with the 1st solenoid replacement a new battery pack was sent replacing C cell with D cell batteries# and I would definately purchase another Delta Touch2O faucet in the future!

Excellent product
I purchased this product not only for its convenience but for the fact that I can turn on and off the flow of water using only the back of my hand or forearm. This was very important to my wife and I as we were always worried about cross-contamination when cleaning a turkey or chicken at the sink and using our hands to turn on and off the water, This product has eliminated that problem by letting us use the back of our hand or forearm
.I have been using this faucet since early 2010 and have never had a problem with it, never even having to change the batteries yet.
A great innovation!

Forget the handle

The technology is very simple and effective for in home use. As you become use to this a soft touch to turn it on and off you will laugh at sinks without the faucet. The Touch 2O has a nice design esthetically and has earned a place in our home as a required item. From the youngest to the oldest we all enjoy the change this product has brought into our lives. As you start to use the faucet you find yourself touching other faucets only to realize they have to be turned on and adjusted every time. Touch 2O is the only style of faucet we will put in our kitchen from now on.

Installation on top mounted sink that is not perfectly rectangular turned out to be an inconvenience. The insulation mount had to be cut because of a scallop designed Kohler sink. Other than that little problem the faucet is both attractive and functional.

Outstanding product!!
The Cassidy Touch2O faucet is the most user friendly item in our kitchen. The installation went without any issues and the faucet works exactly as described. I am amazed that the concept took so long to be made available for homeowners.
Time will tell if the solenoid valve (that works with the Touch2O to turn the water on and off) will last as well as I expect from a Delta product. The list price for the solenoid unit replacement is a King's ransom, so I'm hoping for a long product life.
Overall, our family loves the new faucet.
Great job Delta!!

I installed this faucet into our kitchen, which was smaller than a normal kitchen and made the whole kitchen "POP!" You are always looking for that one piece in a room that makes everything else better by having it there and in this case it is the polished silver that turns heads. It is easy to use and provides a great amount of water pressure to clean dishes or ones hands. I recommend this product to whomever comes to visit my wife and I.

Moscow mule

Moscow mule is a buck or mule cocktail made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice, garnished with a slice or wedge of lime. It is usually served in a copper mug. It became popular during the vodka craze in the United States during the 1950s. The name refers to the popular perception of vodka as a Russian product.

History

The cocktail was invented in 1941 by John G. Martin of G.F. Heublein Brothers, Inc., an East Coast spirits and food distributor, and "Jack" Morgan, President of Cock 'n' Bull Products (which produced ginger beer) and proprietor of the Cock 'n' Bull restaurant onSunset Boulevard in Los Angeles popular with celebrities.

George Sinclair (2007) quotes from an article run in the New York Herald Tribune:
The mule was born in Manhattan but "stalled" on the West Coast for the duration. The birthplace of "Little Moscow" was in New York's Chatham Hotel. That was back in 1941 when the first carload of Jack Morgan's Cock 'n' Bull ginger beer was railing over the plains to give New Yorkers a happy surprise…

The Violette Family helped. Three friends were in the Chatham bar, one John A. Morgan, known as Jack, president of Cock 'n' Bull Products and owner of the Hollywood Cock 'n' Bull Restaurant; one was John G. Martin, president of G.F. Heublein Brothers Inc. of Hartford, Conn., and the third was Rudolph Kunett, president of the Pierre Smirnoff, Heublein's vodka division. As Jack Morgan tells it, "We three were quaffing a slug, nibbling an hors d'oeuvre and shoving toward inventive genius". Martin and Kunett had their minds on their vodka and wondered what would happen if a two-ounce shot joined with Morgan's ginger beer and the squeeze of a lemon. Ice was ordered, lemons procured, mugs ushered in and the concoction put together. Cups were raised, the men counted five and down went the first taste. It was good. It lifted the spirit to adventure. Four or five later the mixture was christened the Moscow Mule...

According to an article in 1942's Insider Hollywood, the Moscow Mule was most popular in Los Angeles. The Nevada State Journal(12 October 1943) reinforced the mule's popularity in reporting: "Already the Mule is climbing up into the exclusive handful of most-popular mixed drinks". It became known as a favourite drink of Reno casino owner William F. Harrah. In his 1964 book Beat the Dealer, Edward O. Thorp did not name the Tahoe casino where he thought he had been poorly treated as a card counter. He said "I went to the bar and had a Moscow Mule", which was a subtle hint that the location was Harrah's Tahoe, due to Harrah's then well-known proclivity for the drink.

In 2012 a Moscow Mule kit that included Cock 'n Bull Ginger Beer was included as part of Oprah Winfrey's Favorite Things list.

Wood chipper

Leaf Shredders and Wood Chippers

How to choose & buy this essential tool to clean up garden debris year-round

A tree chipper or woodchipper is a machine used for reducing wood (generally tree limbs or trunks) into smaller woodchips. They are often portable, being mounted on wheels on frames suitable for towing behind a truck or van. Power is generally provided by an internal combustion engine from 3 horsepower (2.2 kW) to 1,000 horsepower (750 kW). There are also high power chipper models mounted on trucks and powered by a separate engine. These models usually also have a hydraulic crane.
Tree chippers are typically made of a hopper with a collar, the chipper mechanism itself, and an optional collection bin for the chips. A tree limb is inserted into the hopper (the collar serving as a partial safety mechanism to keep human body parts away from the chipping blades) and started into the chipping mechanism. The chips exit through a chute and can be directed into a truck-mounted container or onto the ground. Typical output is chips on the order of 1 inch (2.5 cm) to 2 inches (5.1 cm) across in size. The resulting wood chips have various uses such as being spread as a ground cover or being fed into a digester during papermaking.
Most woodchippers rely on energy stored in a heavy flywheel to do their work (although some use drums). The chipping blades are mounted on the face of the flywheel, and the flywheel is accelerated by an electric motor or internal combustion engine.
Large woodchippers frequently are equipped with grooved rollers in the throat of their feed funnels. Once a branch has been gripped by the rollers, the rollers transport the branch to the chipping blades at a steady rate. These rollers are a safety feature and are generally reversible for situations where a branch gets caught on clothing.

One of the handiest pieces of garden
equipment is a leaf shredder / wood chipper. Even the smallest, and least expensive of these machines can reduce eight to ten bags of leaves down into one, and that's great news if you have a lot of leaves you need to deal with every year.

But chipper-shredders don't only deal with leaves. They also make nutrient-rich green mulch from non-woody plant debris and weeds (that haven't gone to seed), which can be added to flower beds and compost piles; and they make wood chips from twigs and branches that can be spread on walkways.

But delving into the world of shredders and chippers can be overwhelming. What horsepower should you get? What capacity will you need? Is electric better than gas powered?

The key to finding the right model for your needs is to answer these questions, which is what we are going to do for you right now!

Think About Your Needs
Shredders and Chippers Can Be Used Year-Round

Many gardeners think only about using a shredder or chipper in the fall, when all the leaves start to come down and cover everything. In actuality though, a shredder/chipper can be used year round like so:
  • During the autumn months a shredder-chipper is a tool that is vital to help clean up and reduce the piles of leaves and debris into manageable and usable mulch or for addition to the compost pile.
  • In the winter and early spring a chipper-shredder makes quick work of the branches and twigs from storms and seasonal pruning of dormant trees and shrubs.
  • In the late spring and summer these machines easily chew through weeds and finished crops from the vegetable garden such as corn stalks and old tomato plants.

What's Available

Shredder-chippers are available in a wide variety of sizes and most come with a range of accessories to help with other jobs around yard.

Their engines begin at the smaller end with lightweight electric models with less than 1 horsepower, and go up to large gasoline powered engines of 4 to 10 horsepower or more.

Some shredder-chippers are driven by the Power Take-Off (PTO) of a tractor and take on heavy duty work, while the smaller electric powered models are best for only shredding leafy green foliage and small twigs.

More are coming onto the market all the time, and an increasing number of small to midsized machines offer the option of letting you rake leaves and other debris into a hopper at ground level or to vacuum leaves and debris right off the ground.

The larger commercial models can handle bigger, tougher material, some up to six inches (15 cm) in diameter.

What's good to know is that even though you can buy either a wood chipper or a leaf shredder independent of one another, most are designed to handle both kinds of work.

Leaf Shredders

Shredding is done by either hinged flails or fixed-arm hammers. These devices spin at high speeds, grinding material that is fed into the machine.

Hammers are solid arms that have great shredding power but are liable to break if they hit a rock or similar impediment.

The hinged arms of flails allow them to ride over obstructions such as rocks, but they lack some of the shredding power of hammers.

Some shredder-chippers also come with attachable discharge screens with varying sized holes which determine the fineness of the material produced, and a collection bag is always a good accessory to have, as is a solid towing handle or hitch.

Bottom line: Shredders are better for soft materials such as leaves and small twigs.

Wood Chippers

Chipping is done by one or more fixed blades mounted on a rotary disc. The blades cut up material as it is fed though a chute. On many chippers the blades can be reversed to extend their life.

Some of the smaller, more straightforward electric powered models sit on legs from which you can hang a bag. Other models sit directly over a garbage can or compost pile.

Larger models sit on the ground and shoot the ground-up material off to the side, onto a laid out tarp or well-placed wheelbarrow.

For homeowners with a large number of trees that drop branches, a chipper is a great way to recycle debris. It's able to grind tree branches nearly five inches (12.5 cm) in diameter, and can create all the mulch you'll ever need.

Wood mulch in the garden makes attractive, natural-looking, and inexpensive pathway materials.

Note: If you have black walnut trees, compost the leaf and wood chips for several months before spreading them on your garden beds, so the natural toxicity (juglone) will not be a problem.

Note: Greenwood is easier to chip than dry wood

Bottom line: Chippers are better for heavy stalks and large woody materials.

Making a Choice

Once you have figured out what kind of work you need to do most on your property, compare the width and depth of the shredding hopper - the larger the better - and the diameter of the chipping chute.

In general, the best choice is to buy as large a machine as possible in order to avoid overloading the engine and the hopper.

The smaller electric models which are suitable for greenhouse or light work around the garden only, such as leaf shredding, have less than 1 horsepower. Just keep in mind, smaller diameter chutes are safer but slower to use.

Also make sure to see if the smaller machines come with wheels, and if you live in a wet climate, try to find a model adapted to handling wet material.

A good large-capacity machine will have at least a 4 horsepower, four-cycle gasoline engine. Horsepower is a good indication of a machine's overall capacity - the higher the horsepower - the heavier the material it will be able to handle. Of course the price tag usually goes up accordingly!

If you want to work in different locations on your property, make sure the machine you buy is mobile. Many come with wheels, while some have hitches that can be attached to a lawn and garden tractor for towing.

An electric powered shredder-chipper usually weighs less than the gas powered machines, which is nice if you're going to have to move it a lot, but keep in mind it will also be hindered by the length of its extension cord.

Gas models can be moved and used anywhere, and they usually are much more powerful.

If your main interest is in shredding leaves, pay attention to the types with vacuuming ability. These models suck leaves and material off the ground, shred it, and blow it into an attached collection bag. Some of these machines are also self-propelled.

Measuring Capacity

The capacity of any shredder-chipper is measured by the maximum diameter of a branch that it can chip.

When buying larger models, look for walls made of welded, thick, 10 to 16-guage steel, and avoid those made of lightweight sheet metal.

In general, it is usually in your best interests to avoid the least expensive machines because their mechanical quality is sometimes doubtful, and because their limited capacity is usually problematic at best.

Try and purchase something middle of the road in price if you don't want to afford the more expensive models. In the end it will save you time and money.

Bottom line: look for the capacity you'll need, compare the width and height of the shredder hopper and the maximum diameter of the branches each machine can chip or shred and you'll be well on your way to buying a reliable piece of machinery that best suits your needs.

Making a Purchase

When you buy anything, it's always a good idea to compare warranties. If you buy your machine from a local retailer, ask to test the machine you want first so you can get a sense of the quality of the retailer's service department.

Basically you will be happiest with the largest chipper-shredder you can afford, or handle. If you can use it before you buy it, do so, because some chutes are too high for shorter people to use and you need to know things like that before you spend the money.

Chipper-shredder prices are all over the board, but they typically start at $200 for small electric models that shred leaves and very small branches.

The heavier-duty, 10 to 18 horsepower, gas-powered models run from $1,500 to $3,000 or more. There are stand-alone types, and models that can be towed by lawn or garden tractors.

Of course there are several very good quality machines in between these price ranges, so you'll have to do some shopping, but with the information above, you'll be able to get exactly what you need at the right price.

Conclusion

A shredder-chipper is one of the best ways to quickly turn huge piles of leaves and twigs into small mounds of mulch, and the best part is that it is an easy to use piece of garden equipment.

Chipper-shredders are fast and dependable and they allow you to get your yard clean-up done quickly so you can get on to other important things you need to do, or would rather do!

Whey protein isolate

whey protein isolate (often whey isolate) is a dietary supplement and food ingredient created by separating components from milk. Whey is a by-product of the cheese-making process. Whey can be processed to yield whey protein in three forms: whey isolate, whey concentrate, or whey hydrolysate. The difference between the whey protein forms is the composition of the product, particularly the protein content.
Whey isolates contain the higher percentage of pure protein and can be pure enough to be virtually lactose free, carbohydrate free, fat free, and cholesterol free.

Whey proteins are highly bioavailable, are very quickly absorbed into the body, and have a high concentration of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) which are highly concentrated in muscle tissue, and are used to fuel working muscles and stimulate protein synthesis.

Production

Whey isolates have had their base component (water) removed and are generally considered almost lactose and cholesterol free — they are typically at least 90% protein.

Two separation methods are widely used. One method, utilizes ion exchangers which extract native whey protein from the whey stream according to the surface charge characteristics of the molecule, also known as the zeta-potential. This method uses mild pH adjustments to activate and subsequently deactivate the attraction between the ion exchange resin and the protein molecules. In between the temporary binding of protein to the resin, non-protein components are thoroughly washed from the reactor. This process may or may not damage the proteins, but no scientific evidence exists to suggest that it does. Although strong acids and bases are used for the adjustment, the pH rise itself is quite small and within the range common in foods.

Changes in protein conformation within this range are reversible and are not considered denaturation. Ion exchange is highly specific to native whey proteins and is generally more selective in what is retained during the process. This is why the process is best known for creating highly pure whey proteins.

The second method, membrane filtration, typically a combination of microfiltration and ultrafiltration, uses molecular size as the basis for separating components from the whey stream. In the process, pressure is applied across a membrane surface which forces smaller molecules through the membrane while larger molecules are retained. Both methods yield a very high protein to non-protein product ratio, although membrane filtration is somewhat less selective allowing any molecule within a size range to be retained. One compositional difference between whey protein isolates made from cheese whey via membrane filtration compared to ion exchange is that membrane filtration includes significant levels of the casein fragment caseino-glycomacropeptide (cGMP). This fragment has a less complete amino acid profile and is low in branched chain amino acids.

As a dietary supplement, whey and other protein powders can be reconstituted at the time of usage by the addition of a solvent such as water, juice, milk, or other liquid. As a food ingredient, whey powders are easily mixed or dissolved into a formulated food.

Function
Whey protein is popular among athletes today because of its ability to be digested very rapidly and help return the post-workout body back from a catabolic (muscle-wasting) state to an anabolic (muscle-building) state. Whey protein isolates are also widely used in infant formula to provide a natural source of amino acids for optimal growth and development, as well as for protein fortification of bars, beverages, dairy products, extruded snacks and cereals and other food products.
